7.10 : Solidarity and hospitality: a committed art scene

Bozar / Palais des Beaux-Arts

What role do the actors of the artistic world play in accompanying and supporting refugeesand migrants? What kind of view, what kind of narrative on migration can artists propose tochange minds?

Faced with the renunciations of a part of the political class and the wanderings of the European migration policy, the artistic scene is mobilizing. Venues, programmers, promoters, festivals, bookers: they are working to facilitate artists’ access to this cultural ecosystem, whether it is to accompany them in administrative procedures or to welcome them in theirplaces and their artistic networks. These initiatives of solidarity towards artists, citizensand their families fleeing the horrors of their countries, contribute to a human, sensitive andembodied ‘narrative of migration’ as a counterweight to a statistical and technocratic discourse.

With An Vandermeulen (Globe Aroma I BE), Mim Suleiman (artist I TZ), Judith Depaule (Atelier des artistes en exil I FR), members of La Voix Des Sans Papiers Brussels, Milady Renoir (artist and commited poetess | FR). Co-conception and moderation: Camille Louis (philosopher I FR).
